Edna C. (Pattengale) Sorters, 87, 19 Boyer St., Williamsport, died 4:25 p.m. Saturday at Community Hospital in Williamsport where she had been a patient since Monday. She had been in failing health the past six years.
She was born in Carroll County June 4, 1887, daughter of J. T. and Ida Reeves Pattengale. She moved from Carroll County to Warren County in 1925 and lived on a farm near Hickman Heights community several years before moving to Williamsport. She was married July 23, 1905, near Camden to Jesse E. Sorters, who preceded her in death in 1970. He was a mechanic at Harrison Steel Castings Co. in Attica for several years and she was a homemaker. She was a member of Hickman Heights Christian Church and active in the ladies aid society of the church.
Surviving are a son, Basil Sorters, Rt. 2, Brookston; four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Leo, in 1926, three brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Fisher Funeral Home in Williamsport after 5 p.m. Monday. Services will be there in the chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Gerald Burt officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. – thanks to S
