SONGER, Forrest "Shorty"

Forrest J. “Shorty” Songer of RR 2, Veedersburg, age 75, died Wednesday morning, May 12, in Lakeview Medical Center at Danville, Illinois. He was born in Fountain County, October 17, 1906, the son of Court and Doshia Forrest Songer. He married Dorothy S. Burgner, who survives.

  Songer was former a Fountain County commissioner and a director of Veedersburg State Bank for many years. He had farmed most of his life and for many years was owner and operator of drive-in theaters. He was a member of New Century Church.
  Also surviving are a daughter, Suzi Newnum of Veedersburg; two sons, Steve of rural Veedersburg and Dr. William Songer of Hastings, Michigan; a brother, Carl of Veedersburg; and eight grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Parham Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. Jim Bushfield officiating. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. – thanks to S
