George Davis Snider, 59, 404 E. Monroe St, Attica, died in the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette on Sunday July 13, 1996 at 6:20 a.m. following his illness of cancer for 11 years.  He was born in Tippecanoe County, Indiana on May 1, 1937.  He was the son of Marion A. and Leotha M. Peake Snider.  He had formerly lived in the Riverside community east of Attica and had been a resident of Attica for the past 37 years. He had attended Da vis School.  He worked as a machine operator at TEEPAK in Danville for 21 years., He had served in the United States Army.  He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Attica.  He loved to hunt mushrooms and the outdoors.  He was married to Carol J. Mellinger on Sept 12, 1959 in Williamsport. She survives.  Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Jennifer) Maguire, Attica; a son, Jonathan Snider, of Covington, a grandson, Jay Edward Snider, Attica; a sister, Mrs. Stan (Rosemary) Hatke, Crawfordsville; 3 brothers, James A. Snider, Belt, Montana; Joseph Snider, Saginaw, Mich and Francis Snider, Syracuse, NY.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Funeral mass was held at the St. Francis Xavier Church, Attica on Monday July 15 with Rev. Charles Kline officiating.  Burial in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Attica. Memorials may be made to the Precious Blood of the Monastery in Lafayette.  Maus Funeral Home, Attica in charge of local arrangements. – kbz
