COVINGTON - Albert B. (Pooch) Summers, age 55, of Tilton, Ill., a former resident of Covington, was pronounced dead on arrival at Lake View Memorial Hospital, Danville, Ill., at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, May 12 (1968). He was stricken ill at his home on Maple Leaf Drive in Catlin about 8 a.m. and was rushed to the hospital. He had been treated previously for a heart ailment. Mr. Summers was born in Westville, Ill., Dec. 31, 1912, the son of John and Onie Nichols Summers. On Nov. 25, 1937, he married the former Lorraine Huffer of Covington and she survives. He had been employed as a linotype operator at the Danville Commercial News for five years. He previously had been an operator at the Illinois Printing Co., the Interstate Printers & Publishers, Inc., and the Recording & Statistical Co., in Danville. He was a member of the Catlin Methodist Church, Fountain Lodge 60, F & AM, of Covington, was past monarch of Gao Grotto in Danville and a member of the International Typographical Union Local 230 and United Commercial Travelers, Danville Council. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one son, Fred D. Summers; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Kay) Mason, both of Catlin; three brothers, Earl and Jones, both of Danville, and Fred of Benton, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Lou Bell Gray of Attica; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Edmund-Jones-Sullivan Funeral Home. Burial in Sunset cemetery.. -- jlr
