KINGMAN – I. E. (Elmer) Sowers, 92, a retired contractor and lifetime resident of this community, died Thursday in the Britton Nursing Home at Rockville. He had been ill for several weeks. A native of east of Kingman, he was a son of William Andrew and Elizabeth Lindley Sowers and was born Oct. 24, 1872. He was married to Susan Ratcliff, who died June 1, 1951. Mr. Sowers operated for many years a plumbing and heating shop in Kingman. He was a member of the old Pleasant Grove Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Marie Browsher of near Tangier and Mrs. Eula Tower of Indianapolis, and two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Three brothers are deceased. Funeral services are announced for 2:30 p.m. (EST) Sunday at the Woodrow Funeral Home here, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Orval Sutton will be the minister, and interment will be in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. – jlr
