Mrs. Millie Songer, 73, life resident of Veedersburg, was found dead in bed
Saturday afternoon when Mrs. Forrest Funk, a neighbor entered the house to
visit Mrs. Songer and found her body. Mrs. Songer had visited last week
with her daughter, Mrs. D.E. Shonfield, and family of Butlerville, and had
returned home late Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs Shonfield, who had
accompanied her home were enroute to Michigan for a vacation trip. They were
contacted late Saturday evening and returned Sunday noon. Charles Fishero,
Fountain County coroner, pronounced death due to a heart attack.
Apparently she had been dead about six hours. Born in Veedersburg,
October 7, 1874, she was the daughter of Henry and Almira Roberts Elston.
June 5, 1898 she was married to John Songer, who preceded her in death by 20
years. Surviving are the daughter, two granddaughters and a great
grandson. Funeral services were held at the Fishero Funeral Home, Monday
