A strange scene, touching and pathetic and in which the part of the actors in no way out of place was enacted at a funeral at Covington in Fountain Co the other day. Ernie NORTON, a farmer and stock buyer had died and his funeral was in progress at the Church. After all of the relatives and friends of the deceased had viewed the remains the undertaker called Mr. Morton's faithful dog up to the casket. The dog placed his paws on the edge of the coffin and looking in, affectionately licked his dead master's hand, then both sides of his face, looked a moment in silence upon his face and then mournfully howled, which brought tears to the eyes of all within the Church. It has been often said that man's most faithful friend is his dog and this one, it is said, could be relied upon at any time and in any place for faithfulness and no amount of money could have purchased him from his master.
