NOLEN, Tobias - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Tobias B. Nolen, son of Thomas and Druzilla Hinton Nolen was born on a farm near Wallace, Fountain County, Indiana Sept 30, 1855. Here he grew to manhood and in 1879 was united in marriage to Elizabeth Day, and to this union 11 children were born, 6 sons and 5 daughters. For many years after his marriage he and his wife lived on a farm until 20 years ago he and his family moved to Kingman where they continued to reside until the death of his wife 11 years ago since which time he had resided with his children, spending most of his time in Kingman. Having been born and raised in a neighborhood where there was Primitive Bpatist Church he espoused that cause and continued a believer in this church until the end. He had been in ill health for more than a year and seriously ill for 7 weeks, and while all was done for him that could be done, yet it was without avail for in the morning hours of Sunday Nov 16 he passed peacefully away at the age of 69 years one month and 17 days, leaving to mourn six sons: Charles of Huntington IN ; Ranson of Clinton ; Thurman of Chicago; William of Attica; Rosco of St. Paul, Minn and Alson of Kingman, four daughters, Mrs. Clara Gant of Indianapolis; Mrs. Nella Harrison of Kingman; Mrs. Celia Colins of Attica and Mrs. Ida Cox of Covington, 27 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Fleming of Indianapolis, one sister, Mrs. Anna Jackson of Chicago and many other relatives and friends. He has paid the price that we must pay. He has gone on unto his reward and may peace be to his departed soul.

Having been born and raised in a neighborhood where there was a Primitive Baptist Church, he espoused that cause and continued a believer in that church until the end.

He had been in ill health for more than a year, and seriously ill for the seven weeks, and while all was done for him that could be done, yet it was without avail, for in the morning hours of Sunday, November 16th he passed peacefully away at the age of sixty-nine years, one month and seventeen days, leaving to mourn, six sons, Charles of Huntington, Indiana, Ransom of Clinton, Thurman of Chicago, William of Attica, Roscoe of St. Paul, Minnesota and Allison of Kingman, four daughters, Mrs. Clara Gant of Indianapolis, Mrs. Nella Harrison of Kingman, Mrs. Celia Collins of Attica and Mrs. Ida Cox of Covington, twenty seven grand children, one brother, Fleming of Indianapolis, one sister, Mrs. Anna Jackson, of Chicago and many other relatives and friends.

He has paid the price that all must pay. He has gone on unto his reward, and may peace be unto his departed soul.
