William Oscar Nixon, age 51, a life resident of the Covington community, died at 9:10 a. m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis where he had been a patient for three months. He had been in ill health for the past four years. Mr. Nixon was born May 28, 1909 in Vermillion County, Ind., the son of George and Bertha May Hamick Nixon. He had been employed in the aluminum plant in Lafayette prior to his illness. He was a member of the Covington Church of the Nazarene and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He is survived by: one sister, Mrs. Hazel Denny of Danville, Ill.; one brother, Louis F. (Ted) Nixon of Covington; a half-brother, Floyd Keller of St. Louis, Mo., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Dec. 29, at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. The Rev. Wayne Riley, pastor of the Covington Church of the Nazarene, will officiate and burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery. Military services will be conducted at the graveside. --typed by Walt W
