WEST LEBANON — Mary E. (Hanson) Nixon, 64, rural West Lebanon, died at 6:50 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 1999 in Vencore Hospital, Indianapolis. She had been in ill health for one year. Born July 27, 1935 in Marshfield, she was the daughter of Lawrence A. “Bun” and Helen A. VanPelt Hanson. She married Tommy Joe Nixon Sr. She graduated from West Lebanon High School in 1953 and resided in Warren County most of her life. She was a cook at the Beef House Restaurant near Covington for 30 years, retiring in January 1999 due to her health. Survivors, include: sisters, Lila (Thomas) Marshall, rural Williamsport, Patsy L. VanPelt, West Lebanon; brother, Albert C. “Slug” Hanson, Williamsport; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by son, Tommy Joe Nixon Jr. in 1983. Friends may call after 5 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at Fisher Funeral Home, West Lebanon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Grover Williams officiating. Burial will be in West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the West Lebanon Cemetery Association. – jlr
