NIXON, Mary Cade

Mrs. Mary F. Nixon, died at her home in Veedersburg on Sunday evening after being critically ill for the past two months. Mrs. Nixon was one of Veedersburg’s most prominent citizens and she would have been 93 years old on her birthday Dec 24. A lifetime resident of Veedersburg, Mrs. Nixon was born in 1855 the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Clark Cade. She was married to Marshall Nixon who preceded her in death in 1923. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Louise Lampson of New Preston, Conn; a son, Donald of Veedersburg; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Hurst and a brother, Clifford Cade, both of Veedersburg; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A son, Clarence, preceded her in death this year. Funeral services were held in the family residence on Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. James Wire officiating. Burial was in the Rockfield Cemetery with the Parham Funeral Home in charge.

Veedersburg—Mrs. Mary F. Nixon, oldest woman resident of Veedersburg, died at her home here at 6:30 Sunday evening after a brief illness. A life resident of Veedersburg, she was born on Dec. 24, 1855, the daughter of Samuel and Eliza Clark Cade.
  She was married to Marshall Nixon, who preceded her in death Jan. 14, 1923.
  Surviving relatives include a daughter, Mrs. Louise Lampson of New Preston, Conn., a son, Donald Nixon, of Veedersburg, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Bessie Hurst and a brother, Clifford Cade, both residents of Veedersburg.
  She was a member of the Methodist Church. A lover of flowers and books, she devoted many hours of her time to both. – thanks to S&E
