COVINGTON — Les "Leslie” Paul Nickle, died at 6:28 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2007 in his residence, after a long struggle with Glioblastoma. He was born March 28, 1954 in Danville, Ill., the son of Hershel Jr. and Mildred (Hillard) Nickle. He married Tammy Gayler Oct. 19, 1985 in the Covington Methodist Church. She survives. He was a graduate of Westville High School. He worked at Thyssen-Krupp for 18 years and had previously worked at Hyster for 14 years, where he was a lift truck painter. He was a member of Second Church of Christ in Danville, Ill. He loved spending time outdoors camping, boating and fishing. He also enjoyed rooting for his favorite NASCAR drivers. He loved his family dearly and truly loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a son, Paul Nickle, Westville, Ill.; a daughter, Trisha Nickle, Westville, Ill.; three brothers, Wayne (Nancy) Nickle, Georgetown, ill., David (Lisa) Nickle, Westville, Ill. and Tommy Nickle, Westville, Ill.; two sisters, Carol (Bruce) Anderson, Westville, ill. and Lisa (Joe) Stewart, Chrisman, Ill.; three grandchildren, Sky and Gibson Nickle and Olivia Leslie Hutchins, and many special friends from the third shift forging department at Thyssen-Krupp, especially one very close friend, Rick Booe. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; a sister, Elizabeth Ann; and his dog, Lacey. A celebration of Les' life was held July 12 in Sunset's Covington Chapel with Drew Mentzer officiating. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery, Danville, Ill. Memorials may be made in memory of Les' name to Carole's Furr Kids (Animal Rescue) in care of Carole Tapia, or Serenity Hospice in care of Kendall Kent.
