Otto John Nicklas, age 67, a life resident of the Covington community, died at 4:30 a. m. Saturday, Aug 1, at the Deer Creek Nursing Home at Deer Creek, where he had been a patient eight days. He had been ill 10 years, and had been seriously ill two weeks. Born Jan. 6, 1892 in Illinois, he was the son of Christian and Emma Schoop Nicklas. He had been a farmer. He was preceded in death in 1938 by his wife, Beulah Asbury, and also by two brothers. Survivors include two sons, Wayne of South Bend and Vern of Covington Rt. 3; a daughter, Mrs. Marvellen Dinwoody of Logansport; two brothers, Edward and Robert, both of Veedersburg; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Lewsader of Indianapolis, Mrs. Martha Cronkhite of Greencastle, Mrs. Grace Warrick of South Bend and Mrs. Augusta Green of Veedersburg; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Aug. 3, at the Osborne Prairie Church. The Rev. Thos. Linton officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. The Hegg Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. --typed by Walt W
