Covington -- Lewis C. Nicklas, 74, 827 Railroad St, Covington died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday Jan 9, 1997 at USMC Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. He was born May 3, 1921 in Fountain County, the son of William and China Kilby Nicklas. He married Lois E. Webb Nov 5, 1939 at Covington. She survives. He was a chemical operator for 16 years at Tee Pak in Danville, Ill retiring in 1983. He also farmed in Veedersburg from 1950-1967. He was a veteran of WWI, having served in the Navy. He was a former member of the New Century Church south of Veedersburg. He was also a 1938 graduate of VHS. He enjoyed woodworking and raising flowers. Surviving besides his wife, are a daughter, Judy (Donald ) Galloway, Covington; a son, Ronnie (Julaine) Nicklas, Osceola, Wisc; two grandsons, Brian (Lisa) Galloway, Veedersburg and Brett (Darla) Galloway, Clinton; a granddaughter, Kelly Nicklas, Osceola, Wisc and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister. Private graveside services will be with Pastor Henry Stidham officiating. Burial will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. No visitation. Arrangements were handled by DeVerter Funeral Home, Cayuga. Memorial to United Samaritan Medical Center, Regional Cancer Center, 806 N Logan, Danville, Ill 61832.
