NEWNUM, Leona - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Leona “Tillie” Newnum, 94, Covington, died at 7 p.m. Friday, November 25, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Smith, where she had resided for several years.

  Born March 14, 1889 in Covington, she was the daughter of Oliver and Sarah Briney Marshall. She lived in Covington in her youth, moved later to Attica and then to Hammond, returned to Covington in 1968. She was married to Charles Newnum, who died April 19, 1956. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Hammond.

  Survivors include another daughter, Mrs. Clifford Misner of Hobart; six grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, grandson and nine brothers and sisters.

  Services were conducted Sunday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Robert Hentrich officiating. – thanks to S
