PERRYSVILLE, Ind. (CNS) – Mrs. Goldie Newnum, 78, of Perrysville, died yesterday (March 8, 1970) at Community Hospital, Williamsport, where she had been a patient three weeks. Born Jan. 29, 1892 in Springtown, Ind., she was the daughter of Grace Groves. She was first married to Frank Stahl. She was later married to Marion Newnum Feb. 16, 1918. He died April 19, 1967. Mrs. Newnum was a resident of Perrysville for 23 years. She was a former resident of Veedersburg. She was a member of the United Brethern Church. Survivors include a son, William E. Stahl of Veedersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Eldion (Grace) Johnson of Perrysville and Mrs. Frank (Fauniel) Steffy of Veedersburg; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Newnum of Tangier, Mrs. Cecil Keller of Westville, Ill., Mrs. Myrta Hoffman of Indiana Soldiers Home, Lafayette, and Mrs. Fremmie Keller of West Point, Ind. She was preceded in death by two sons in infancy, a sister and a brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edgar Allen officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Tuesday. -– jlr

COVINGTON -- Goldie Newnum, born Jan. 29, 1892, in Stringtown, died 8 p.m. March 8 Community Hospital, Williamsport, where she had been a patient since February 17.
She was first married to Frank Stahl, and Later married to Marion Newnum on Feb. 16, 1918. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1967. She had been a resident of Perrysville for 23 years; and formerly lived in Veedersburg. She was a member of the United Brethren Church in Veedersburg.
Surviving are one son, William E., of Veedersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Eldion (Grace) Johnson, Perrysville; Mrs. Frank (Fauniel) Steffy, Veedersburg; sin grandchildren and five great grandchildren; four sisters, Sylvia Newnum, Tangier; Mrs. Cecil Keller, Westville, Ill; Mrs. Myrta Hoffman, a resident of the Indiana Soldiers Home in Lafayette; Mrs. Fremmie Keller, West Point. She was preceded in death by two sons, one sister and one brother.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. March 11, at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, with Rev. Edgar Allen officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery south of Covington. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon and evening.
