Mrs. Bertha L. Newnum, 73, a resident tof 610 N. Gilbert Street for 15 years, died at 10:35 p.m. April 10, 1961 in St. Elizabeth Hospital. She had been a patient one day and in ill health 5 years. Mrs. Newnum was a member of the Lutheran Church in Wallace. She was born 9-18-1887 in Parke County, the daughter of Henry and Maris Myers Clore. Survivors include the husband, James Earl Newnum; 3 daughters, Mrs. Gleethel Hendrickson of Covington Ind; Mrs. Kathleen Paugh (sic) of Pompano Beach Fla; Mrs. Wilberta Sowers of Ft. Lauderdale Fla; and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers. The body is at the Barrick & Sons Funeral Home where private services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Glen Ray will officiate with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington. Friends will be received at the funeral home 7-9 pm. Wednesday.
