Veedersburg - Edward L. Newman, 79 (sic), of Veedersburg died at 7 a.m. Wednesday in his residence. Mr. Newman was a veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Community Bible Baptist Church and Veedersburg American Legion Post 288. He was born July 16, 1918 at Hammond to Oliver H. and Olive M. Hartleroad Newman. He married Heln L. Mitchell in 1941. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Tony (Rachel) Horton of Veedersburg; two granddaughters and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister. Private family services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in Dickerson Funeral Home at Veedersburg with David Frazuer officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled - kbz
