The trial of Barney Robards for the killing of Marshal Newkirk, of Judson, Parke county, last summer occupied the attention of the Fountain circuit court most of last week, it having been venued to Fountain county from Parke. The jury returned a verdict, giving Robards a sentence of 21 years imprisonment. There was a large attendance of people during the progress of the trial. Robards was defended by Mr. D. \Y. Simme. The public sentiment was that Robards got off well in the sentence accorded him, as many believed it should have been for life. It is probable that Robards will be satisfied. The jury had the case under consideration for six years. Another man as an accomplice in the crime is to be tried.
