Lafayette—Ralph R. Nelson, 83, 436 Lingle Ave., Lafayette, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 1989 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, where he had been a patient since April 26.
He was born March 27, 1906 in Lafayette and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was married in 1929 in Attica to Clara E. DeSutter, who preceded him in death Dec. 16, 1980. She was a sister of Raymond and Lawrence DeSutter, both of Attica.
He was a tool and die maker at Alcoa for 23 years, retiring in 1968.
He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Alcoa Retirees’ Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George (Clara Ann) Milakis and Mary Hall, both of Lafayette; a son, Andrew Ralph, Lafayette; two brothers, Alfred and John, both of Lafayette; two sisters, Charlotte Nelson, Lafayette, and Mary Catherine Kochert, Crawfordsville; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and four great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. today in St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Chuck Chicanowicz, OFM, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
Soller-Baker Lafayette Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rosary services were at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. – kbz
