OAKWOOD, Ill. — Doris Mae Nelson, 86, Oakwood, Ill., died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2006 in Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville. Ill. She was born April 5, 1920 in rural Perrysville, the daughter of Arnold J. and Bessie (Hines) Webb. She married Charles J. Nelson Feb. 14, 1946 in Danville, Ill. He preceded in death Feb. 13, 2005. She was a 1938 graduate of Perrysville High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Oakwood American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include: two daughters, Charlene Nelson, Oakwood, Ill. and Nancy Bowden, Murphysboro, Ill.; a granddaughter, Kerry Dale Bowden, Murphysboro, Ill.; four sisters, Mary (Howard) Rice, Danville, Ill., LaVada (Albert) Lawlyes, Perrysville, Carol Bruner, Otterbein, and Gertrude (Melvin) Dunham, Danville, Ill.; and a brother, Gerald (Penny) Webb, Westville, Ill. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and a sister. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Pastor Patty Wise officiating. Burial was in Danville National Cemetery, Danville, Ill. Contributions may be made to the Cris Senior Center with envelopes available at the funeral home. – jlr
