HILLSBORO β Carmen Phyllis
(Reynolds) Nelson, 82, a former resident of Hillsboro and had been residing at
the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette, died at 5:12 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8,
2006 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. She was born March 22, 1924 in
Hillsboro, the daughter of Archie and Mary Copus Reynolds. She married Alfred
Leroy βRoyβ Nelson. He preceded in death. She had lived in Pennsylvania, but
spent most of her life in Hillsboro. She graduated from Hillsboro High School
and St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Danville, Ill. She worked as a
registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville. She later worked at the
Illiana Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, until she retired. She
had attended the Veedersburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting
and reading. Survivors include: a son, Mike (Ann) Nelson, Hillsboro; a
daughter, Beth (Akbar) Yoossefpour, Reseda, Calif., eight grandchildren, Brad
(Barbie) Nelson, Kristi (Steve) Jackson, Tricia Nelson, Brent Nelson, Ramin
Yoossefpour, Shila (Shahram) Fahimi, Nooshin Yoossefpour and Babak Yoossefpour;
three great-grandchildren, Riley Nelson, Nathan Jackson and Madalynn Jackson.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Virginia Peelman.
Friends may call from noon until service time at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in
Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will
follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. Online condolences may be sent to
