WEST LEBANON — Carl A. Nelson, age 70, of Danville, Ill., father of Dr. Carl A. Nelson Jr. of West Lebanon, died unexpectedly at 12:10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at his home at 1414 N., Gilbert St.  He had lived there since 1940.
Mr. Nelson was born Oct. 31, 1896, in Rankin, Ill., the son of Carl A. and Anna Peterson Nelson.  He was married to Evelyn R. Baron, who preceded him in death March 21, 1952.  He was then married to Frances H. Harvey Dec, 20, 1952, in Danville, Ill., and she survives.
He had been in the lumber business since the age of 16, and formerly was a salesman for the Interstate Lumber Co.  For the past seven years he owned and operated the Nelson Lumber Yard at Williamsport.  He was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rankin, Rankin Lodge 225, F&AM, and the Danville Scottish Rite.  He would have received his 50-year pin at ceremonies next month.
Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: his son, Dr. Nelson; one sister, Mrs. Edna Nelson of Rankin; three grandchildren and
one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Lakeside Funeral Chapel in Danville.  Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, north of Danville.  - jz
