Funeral services for Charles Pearl Nance, age 90, a retired tinsmith and resident of the Fairmount-Catlin, Ill., area most of his life, and step-father of Kenneth France of Covington Rt. 1, who died Monday morning, Feb. 22, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Carrington Funeral Home in Fairmount. Ill. Burial was in Greenview Cemetery at Fairmount. Mr. Nance, who died in Lakeview Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill., where he was a patient one day, was born April 5, 1874, in North Carolina. He was a son of Colomon Elson and Margaret Nance and he came to Illinois when a boy. He had made his home with a step-granddaughter, Mrs. Floyd White, in Catlin the past year and one-half. He was married to Mary Beigkley who preceded him in death. Surviving from this marriage are a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Lucille) Cox of St. Louis, Mo., and a granddaughter. He was a member of Catlin Church of Christ. He later married Ida Miller France, who preceded him in death in 1963. Also surviving are three stepsons, Kenneth France of Covington Rt. 1, Gordon France of Walla Walla, Wash., and Chet France of Catlin; a step-daughter, Mrs. Helen Prouty of Walla Walla; 10 step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. – jlr
