Word has been received here of the sudden death of Carl (Jack) McNett. He passed away August 11, 1943 at his home 4001 North 95th street, Oaklawn, Ill. Death was due to a heart attack. He was well known in this community having been born at Independence, Sept 2, 1901. He was the son of Jesse M. and Hattie Knowles McNett. Both parents preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Marie Duncan McNett, one brother, Norman E of Wilmington, Ill; two stepchildren; three step grandchildren; one nephew Norman E Jr in the service at Fort Fisher, NC; two nieces, Mrs. Betty Fortin and Rosemary McNett. Funeral services were held at the Braunn & Knoll Funeral Home in Oaklawn with burial at the Beaver Creek Cemetery near Papinain, Ill. Those attending from Attica were Mrs. Bessie Shoaf, an aunt of the deceased; Mrs. Phyllis Hetrick; Mrs. Ruth McNett and Mrs. Bessie Thurman.
