McMURTRIE, Zennie Moffitt - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Zennie B. McMurtrie of RR 3, Veedersburg, age 95, died Friday morning, April 17, at her home. She was born in Richland Township, Fountain County, November 3, 1885, the daughter of John and Laura Pogue Moffitt. In January 1907, she married Orrie McMurtrie. He died April 25, 1951. A member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Newtown, she had attended Richland Township schools.

  Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Bernice Murphy of Veedersburg, Mrs. Ruth Hamblin and Mrs. Clea Mae Butts of Kokomo; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

The body was taken from Maus Funeral Home in Attica to the Hopewell Baptist Church for funeral services Monday afternoon with Rev. Ben Swope officiating. Burial was in the old Baptist Cemetery west of Newtown. – thanks to S
