Orrie McMurtrie, 72 years old, a native of the Odell community where he had spent his life in farming, died on Wednesday at 3 a.m. in Home Hospital in Lafayette. He had been in impaired health for several years but was seriously ill 8 days and had undergone surgery. He was born March 23, 1879, the son of Thomas and Caroline Funk McMurtrie, a well known family. He was married to Miss Zenna Moffit of Newtown who survives with three sons: Chester, Veedersburg Rural Route; Harold, Attica Rural Route and Dallas McMurtrie, Veedersburg Rural Route. Three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Hamlin and Mrs. Clea Mae Butts, both of Kokomo; Miss Berniece McMurtrie, Lafayette; two brothers, William T. and Harvey McMurtrie both of Attica; 7 grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Union Church south of Attica. – kbz
