Among those calling at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Armstrong Sunday on account of the death of Mrs. Pearly McMasters, whose body was at the Armstrong home were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Armstrong, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Lewis of Newport, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Armstrong and family of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Colson of Hillsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Shuler of Wallace, Mr. and Mrs. Emmit Cory of Danville, Ill., Charles Cory and son of Montezuma, Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Ellis of Waynetown.

Myrtle Lewis McMasters, daughter of William and Caroline Stuart Cory Lewis, was born March 19, 1894 near Cleveland, Okla. The family came to Putnam County, Ind., and later to Liberty Township, Parke County, a number of years ago. Here the father passed away July 16, 1918.
  In January 1916, she was united in marriage to Pearly McMasters and has lived near or in Tangier most of the time since.
  She had been in failing health for some time, but seriously ill the past six weeks, which she spent in Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, where she passed away at 12:30 a.m. Feb. 5, 1949 at the age of 54 years, ten months and 16 days, leaving to mourn the husband, five children, Mrs. Rovene Tinder, Roy McMasters, Mrs. Elinor Hatch, Herschel McMasters and Elizabeth Ann Webber; also ten grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Caroline  Lewis; a sister, Mrs. Nora Armstrong; a brother, Miltie Lewis; four half brothers, George, Emmett, Charles and Bright Cory; also one half sister, Mrs. Effie Dark. A sister, Mrs. Maude Colson, who passed away March 1, 1938.  Funeral services were held at Fairview Church with Rev. Winn Sherrill officiating. Burial in West Union Cemetery, the Spencer Funeral Home in charge. – S&E
