J.W. (Farmer) McMahon, 68, former Covington postmaster, died at his home in Covington Wednesday morning at 6:20 o’clock after a lengthy illness. Born Jan 10, 1879 in Covington he was the son of Timothy and Sarah Buchus McMahon. He married Isa Sprankle, June 5, 1907 and she preceded him in death in 1937. A life-long resident of Covington McMahon had served at one time as postmaster for a nine-year period. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Kieran and grandson, Billy Jim Kieran with whom he lived; two sisters, Miss Maggie McMahon of Covington and Mrs. CL Shepherd of Danville, Ill and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Hope cemetery.
