Alta McLain of Covington, age 78, died Sunday night, October 25, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois. He was born in Stringtown, Fountain County, February 11, 1903, the son of Charles and Susan Wolfe McLain. November 28, 1924, he married Eva Z. Stanbaugh, who died April 8, 1969. McLain was a farmer in early life and later was a carpenter for Alva Southgate, a contractor in Covington.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Ramey and Mrs. Shirley Meeker, both of Covington; four sons, Delmas, Lowell Gene, Glenn and Jackie, all of Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Opal Swim of Covington and Mrs. Anna Smith of Tab; four brothers, Elmer of Rockville, George, Henry and Harlan, all of Cayuga; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Richard Taylor officiating. Burial was in Coal Creek Cemetery south of Covington. -s-
