Mrs. Mary McKnight, 67, passed away suddenly Thursday, December 29th in a Hampton, Va,, hospital a few hours after suffering a stroke.
Mrs. McKnight had been spending the holiday at the home of her daughter, Esther Coleman and son-in-law.
The body was taken to the Crumley Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Ind., for services.
Mrs. Mary McKnight was born June 22, 1893 near Newtown.  She was the daughter of Harrison and Alice Clawson Kellogg.  She married Rev. William McKnight June 18, 1918, who preceded her in death August 31, 1960.
Rev. and Mrs. McKnight served as missionaries in Japan from 1920 until 1957 except for the period of World War II.  They returned to Newtown community when he retired in 1957, then moved to Stirling in 1959 where she stilled lived after her husband death.
Surviving are the daughter at whose home she was visiting; a son, Robert, who is enroute to Palan Island in the South Pacific on government work; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Dinwiddie of Attica and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice.
Funeral services were at the Crumley Funeral Home at Hillsboro on Jan. 2nd at 2 p.m. (DST) with the Rev. Russell Siferd of Urbana, Illinois, officiating.  Burial was in the Newtown Cemetery.  Men serving as pallbearers and assisting with the flowers were Ralph Ingersol, Stuart McKnight, Robert Martin, Walter Dinwiddie, Samuel and Charles Beasley.  - jz
