Newtown – I.L. McKnight, 86, retired farmer, died in his home here at 11:30 p.m. Friday. He underwent amputation of both legs four years ago.  Born near Veedersburg, he always lived in Fountain County except for three years in California. He was a member of Newtown Presbyterian Church which he had served as elder and Sunday School superintendent. In his early life he was active in the Fountain County Sunday School Association.  He was married in 1901 to Hannah Scheaffer, who survives him with a son, Stuart McKnight, Richland Township Trustee and a daughter, Mrs. Robert Martin, both of Newtown and two brothers, Rev. William McKnight of Mankato, Minn and TG McKnight of Newtown. - kbz

Isaac L. McKnight, 86, a widely known Sunday School leader in Fountain County died at his home in Newtown Friday, Oct 17.  A retired farmer, he had lived in Fountain County all his life with the exception of 3 years in California.  He was born Sept 29, 1872 near Veedersburg the son of Charles Linton and Joanna Reed McKnight and he married the former Hannah Schaeffer on Jan 1, 19021. She survives.  Other survivors include a son, Stuart, trustee of Richland Township; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Martin of Newtown; two brothers,  the Rev. William McKnight, professor of Psychology in Makston, Minn and TG McKnight of Newtown; 5 grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Services were held Monday at the Newtown Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. James M. Campbell, a former Newtown resident. Burial was in Newtown Cemetery with Crumley Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. – kbz
