ATTICA — Janet D. (Gray) McKinney, 75, 1000 S. McDonald St., Attica, died at 10:10 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2000 at her residence. She had been in failing health for one year. She was born Sept. 18, 1924 in Kingman, the daughter of Rollie and Olive Gillum Gray. She married Freeman N. McKinney Jan. 20, 1943 in Greenville, Miss. He preceded in death Jan. 16, 2000. She was raised in Kingman, graduating from Kingman High School in 1942. She had been a resident of Attica since 1946 and had wintered in San Juan, Texas since 1982. She and her husband had owned and operated the Gambles Store in Attica from 1962-1973. She was a member of the Attica Free Methodist Church. She was an honorary retired member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority in Attica. She formerly liked to bowl and was a member of a bowling league. Survivors, include: three daughters, Jane (Ted) Hacker, Englewood, Ohio, Judith (Marvin) Campbell, Daleville, Nancy (Robert) Talbott, Malvern, Ark.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Gilman Gray. Friends may call from noon until service time at 2 p.m. Thursday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Marcos Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to Attica Free Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. – jlr
