Bertha Marie (DeVoss) McKie, 91, Alameda, California and formerly of Mellott, died Sunday, August 27, 2000, 2:10 a.m. in the Alameda (Calif.) Hospital. Born near Mellott on August 23, 1909, she was the daughter of Alonzo and Annie (Bever) DeVoss. She was a graduate of Mellott High School and Utterback Business College in Danville, Illinois. She lived most of her life in Alameda and worked as a Clerk in the Recorder’s Office of Alameda County Court House. Surviving, are: several nieces and nephews, including Catherine Gustus of Attica, Virginia Emerick of West Point, Waunita McGuinness of Danville, Ill., Francis DeVoss and Kenneth De Voss, both of Covington. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Memorial graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro, on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, in charge of local arrangements. – jlr

MELLOTT — Bertha Marie (DeVoss) McKie, 91, Alameda, Calif. and formerly of Mellott, died at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000 in Alameda Hospital, Alameda, Calif. She was born Aug. 23, 1909 near Mellott, the daughter of Alonzo and Annie Bever DeVoss. She was a graduate of Mellott High School and Utterback Business College in Danville, Ill.
