Mrs. Nadine McGaughey, 26, of Veedersburg, passed away Monday morning at the Rockville sanitarium where she had been a patient since Friday. Mrs. McGaughey had been in failing health recently and had been in Veedersburg with her young son visiting with Rev. OW McGaughey and family. Her condition became critical last week and she was removed to Rockville where little hope was given the family for her recovery.
Nadine was married to John Max McGaughey in November, 1942 and the couple lived in the East until his recent discharge from the army. Mr. McGaughey has since been in Indianapolis with the Indianapolis News.
She was born in Williamsport on November 9, 1919, the daughter of Capt. Elwyn and Eleanor McDonald Winks. She graduated from Veedersburgh (sic) HS and attended Purdue University.
Surviving in addition to the husband and son is the father, Coatsville, Indiana; a sister, Miss Margaret of Indianapolis; and tweo brothers, Elwyn Jr. and Eugene.
Mrs. McGaughey had many friends and a wide acquaintance about the county and her untimely passing grieves all who knew her. She was an active member of the Christian church.
Funeral services were held at the Parham Funeral Home in Veedersburg on Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Fred Chelan officiating.
Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
