McGAHAN, Arthur

ATTICA - Arthur McGahan, age 91, a retired Warren County farmer, who made his home the last year and a half with a daughter, Mrs. Mary Moore in Crawfordsville, died at 2:25 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, in Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville where he had been a patient three weeks. Mr. McGahan was born July 19, 1874 in Warren County, the son of George and Mary Harman McGahan. He farmed all his adult life in Warren County and upon his retirement in 1952 moved to Attica. He was married Dec. 10, 1899 to Lizzie Bell Cowgill and she preceded him in death in 1911. On April 27, 1918, he was married to Nalla Paula Hildenbrand, who died in 1955. He was a member of Greenhill St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Lodge 455, F & AM, at Greenhill. He is survived by: four daughters, Mrs Dale (Mary) Moore of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Vera Vester of Louisville, Mrs. Lois (Dell) Crowe of Greencastle and Mrs. Everett (Lola) Watkins of Danville, Ill., and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the DeSutter Funeral Home in Attica where Masonic rites were held Tuesday evening. The Rev. Donald Ashley, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Attica, officiated and burial was in Davis Cemetery near Greenhill. - jlr
