David M. McElwee, 78, died at his home at HIllsboro at 6 o'clock Sunday eening of a complication of diseases. He had been in failing health for two years and seriously ill the past 3 weeks. Mr. McElwee had been a director of the Wallace and Hillsboro banks for 20 years. One of 9 children Mr. McElwee was born near Wallace on Feb 23, 1863 a son of Matthew and Mary Ann Parks McElwee. He married Orpha L. McElwee on Dec 27, 1893 at St. Joseph Ill and for 13 years after their marriage they resided at St. Joseph before coming to Hillsboro. He was a member of the Prairie Chapel Church. Suriving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Phoebe Humphreys, Hillsboro; two brothers, Albert, Veedersburg, and Oscar of Kingman and a sister, Mrs. Ida Davis, Wallace. -- kbz

He was a member of the Prarie Chapel Church. Surviving are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Phoebe Humphreys, Hillsboro; two brothers, Albert McElwee, Veedersburg; and Oscar McElwee, Kingman and a sister, Mrs. Ida Davis, Wallace.
