Albert McElwee, 83, school teachers dies at Veedesr Nov 26, 1953 - Albert H. McElwee, 83 a school teacher for 28 years died Thursday at 5 a.m. at his home in Veedersburg. Born Feb 24, 1870 near Wallace, he was the sonf of Matthew and Mary Parke McElwee. On July 28, 1921, he married Abbie Boatman who survives him in death. Mr. McElwee attended school in Jackson Township, Boone County (sic - Fountain since a life resident?) and at Normal. A life resident of Fountain County, he had served two terms as Fountain County Treasurer. He had been in the grocery business in Veedersburg for 18 years. Recently, he was the secretary of the Hub (?) Loan Building Association from which he retired last spring due to ill health. He was a member of the Freedom Christ Church, at Wallace and in addition was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and member of OES. Survivors inclue the widow and one brother, Oscar, Kingman. The Crumley Funeral Home in Veedrsburg is handling the deatils of the funeral services. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Praham Funeral Home. The Rev. George Beaty will officiate, with burial in Osborne Prarire Cemetery. Friends may call at Parham Funeral Home after noon Friday.
