Mrs. Abbie McElwee, 85 died at 2 a.m. Monday June 30, 1958 in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville where she had been a patient since she fell and fractured her hip 3 weeks ago. A native of Fountain County Indiana she was born Feb 24, 1873, daughter of William M. and Mary Coffing Glover. She was married to Smauel J. Boatman. Following his death she was married to Albert McElwee also deceased. Mrs. McElwee was a member of the Osborne Praire Christian Church. Surviving are two sons, Paul Boatman of Veedersburg and Mont of Covington; a brother, James E. Glover of Covington; 4 grandch and 8 greats. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the J. Fred Parham Funeral Home with Rev. Don Weaver and the Rev Huber Neth officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery.

Abigail Almira Glover, daughter of William M. and Mary E (Coffing) Gover was born 7 miles northeast of Covington on March 24, 1873.  She was of a family of nine children, Burton who died in infancy, Willie Elmer, Dalla Barkley, Anna Crane, George S., James, Berlie E. and Paul H who passed away at age 11. James Glover is now the only survivor. She received her education in the rural schools of Fountain County was married to Samuel J. Boatman of Rosedale, Parke County, Ind on March 12, 1892. He passed away in 1901. They were engaged in farming in Troy and Shawnee Townships. To this union were born Elwood Thomas, deceased in 1940; Mont Madison and Paul Andrew survive, also four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  On June 28, 1921, she was again married to Albert H. McElwee, also deceased in 1953. They resided in Veedersburg and were active workers in the Methodist Church. She was a life-long active and supporting member of the Osborn Prairie Church, was also a member of the Wabash Valley Garden Club of Fountain County.  One of her greatest pleasures were flowers and working in this club, where she was a very regular attendant. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of Valvetta Chapter, Eastern Star No 207 of Veedersurg. She passed away at 1:20 a.m. June 30, 1958 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill.  Besides the immediate family, she leaves several nieces and nephews and many, many friends to recall her smiling face and sunny disposition. – kbz
