SIDELL - Mrs. Lucy Marie McDowell, 74, of Sidell, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 8, 1978) at Lakeview Medical Center in Danville. She had been a patient since Friday and ill two months. She and her husband had operated the Grab-It Grocery Store in Sidell for many years. In 1952, they moved to Santa Monica, Calif., where Mrs. McDowell worked for the Safeway Grocery. She returned to Sidell in 1967. She was a member of the Sidell United Methodist Church and Sidell-Indianola Order of Eastern Star. Born Aug. 7, 1904, in Sidell, she was the daughter of Charles and Lucy Truman Stockton Bancroft. On Dec. 14, 1924, at Attica, Ind., she was married to Fay McDowell, who died in July of 1966. Survivors include a son, T. R. of Sidell; and two granddaughters, Jan and Lisa. She was preceded in death by a brother, David H. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sidell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lowell White officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Indianola. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Honnold and Son Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church an hour before services. The family requests that memorials be in the form of contributions to the memorial fund of Sidell United Methodist Church. - jlr
