James D. McDonald, one of Montgomery County's earliest settlers and father of Paul McDonald, the well-known newspaper man, died Sunday at his home in Attica. He was born at Hamilton, Ohio in 1810 and came to Indiana with the family in the early 20s settling near Crawfordsville. The place then was barely a settlement and was surrounded by an almost unbroken wilderness. Mr. McDonald has been identified with Attica's best business interests for more than half a century.
