Charles D. McDonald, 72, a resident of San Diego, Calif., for the past 15 years and a former resident of Covington, died at 1 p.m. Monday (April 10, 1961) in the San Diego City Hospital. He had been ill since October.
Born Dec. 15, 1888, in Hillsboro, he was the son of Hugh and Martha Harper McDonald. He was married to Mildred Sidell, who survives.
He was a retired shoe salesman and was a member of the Covington Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph and Charles, both of San Diego; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Merryman of Covington and Mrs. Katie Parrott of Houston, Tex.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
The body is being returned to the Hegg Funeral Home where friends will be received after noon Thursday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Noah Beadle will officiate, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. - jz
