McDANIEL, Lena Starns - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

  Lena M. McDaniel of Rifle, Colorado, age 79, died January 18, in Rifle. She was born at Wallace, January 24, 1903, the daughter of Alexander Clarence and Amanda Miller Starns. January 25, 1919, she married Ralph Leroy McDaniel, who preceded her in death in February of 1975. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. For many years she enjoyed raising exotic birds at her home, known as the McDaniel Bird Ranch.

  Survivors include two daughters, Ethel Stout of Meeker, Colorado, and Doris VonDette of Grand Junction, Colorado; six sons, Ralph Jr. of Anaheim, California, Robert of Orange, California, Rodney of Lakewood, California, Floyd of Parachute, Colorado, Donald of Buena Park, California, and Vernon of Pacific Palisades, California; a sister, Gloria Wistreich of Paradise, California; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held January 22 at Sowder Funeral in Rifle with Rev. E. E. Kungel officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Rifle.
