McCOWAN, Wallace "Dink" L. - Sr

Wallace "Dink" L. McCown Sr 80, Covington and longtime resident of Warren County died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday Oct 9, 2004 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. He was born Nov 4, 1923 in Pearisburg, VA the son
of Frank and Elizabeth Parly McCown. He married Betty L. Calvert Aug 19, 1943 in Veedersburg. She preceded in death April 16, 1995. He attended the Rockville school system. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He farmed for Paul Lang and other farmers and was later employed as a truck driver for Rogers Group & Stoops Trucking.  He was an avid hunter & fisherman. Enjoyed mushroom hunting especially enjoyed cutting wood with his sons & grandsons. Survivors include two sons, Wally and Rick; three daughters, Sonna Ingargiola; Belinda Congleton and Vickie McCown; a sister, Juanita Sparks, Rockville; 13 grandchildren 21 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donnie McCown; an infant son, Frankie McCown; and two grandsons, Jason Buchanan and Jimmy McCown. There was a gathering of family and friends at his home at 2 p.m. Sunday. Grady Funeral Home was in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana of Indiana 911 E 86th St, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Ind.
