Newtown -- (CNS)—Funeral services for Charles A. McCorkle, 85, former resident. of the Newtown area, who died about noon Wednesday (Aug. 30, 1950) in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, will be held at the home of a son, Russell, four miles east of Newtown, at 2 p. m. Friday. Mr. McCorkle was born on a farm east of Newtown in 1865. He attended DePauw and Purdue universities, receiving his degree from Purdue in 1889. He was united in marriage in 1891 to Frances M. Bittle, who preceded him in death in 1943. Until the time of his retirement about 15 years ago, he was a director of the Farmers State Bank of Wingate. He was a member of the Wingate Methodist Church, the Wingate AF&AM and the Shrine. He was a 32d degree Mason. He is survived by three sons, J. Russell and C. Leland, Newtown, and Francis, Lafayette; one daughter, Miss Bernice A. McCorkle, at home, and five grandchildren. The body was taken to the son's home from the Russell & Myers Funeral Home, Lafayette, late Thursday. Burial will be in the Meharry Cemetery.  --typed by Walt W
