McCOLLUM, Samuel D.

SAMUEL D. McCOLLUM

Note: I am only guessing (but logically Susannah Nehemiah had three brothers and the other two are accounted for) that this is Samuel D. McCollum who died 15 July 1909 at age 53 - son of Benjamin and Ureba Ann Allen McCollum) - if it is not, please let me know

……... McCullum, a barber who has been working for J. H. Ephlin at Kingman, died quite suddenly Monday night at the Woody hotel in Newtown. He was complaining in opening and after going to the …….. Dr. Ratcliff was summoned and administered to his needs. McCullum apparently grew better and said that as if he would rest during the remainder of the night. About three o’clock in the morning he suddenly grew worse and Dr. Ratcliff was summoned. He at once recognized that the man was suffering cerebral apoplexy and that his condition was very serious and while all that  could be was done for him, the fellow continued to sink until about five o’clock, when he died. McCullum was well known over the county as a congenial, whole ……..ed good fellow. He was past 50 years of age, unmarried. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Susan Nehemiah, living south of this city, and Mrs. ……..cy Cavin, who formerly resided …….. but now lives in Terre Haute. McCullum had many friends who severely regret his sudden and sad death. A short funeral service was held at C. M. Spencer’s undertaking establishment Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Levi ……..ody, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Centennial cemetery. – jlr
