WALLACE - Mrs. Corda Bowman McCollum, lifelong resident of the Wallace community, died Saturday morning at Culver Hospital. Mrs. McCollum, 83, was being treated for burns suffered in a home fire on Oct. 24. She resided with a son, Leslie McCollum, just outside the Wallace town limits. Mrs. McCollum was alone at the time of the fire and authorities believe she was attending a stove when her clothing caught on fire. Born on June 14, 1886, she was the daughter of Henry and Amanda Harper Bowman. Her husband, Atlas McCollum, died 1941. The deceased was a member of the Yeddo Baptist Church. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Mycroft of Portland Arch and Mrs. Amanda Glaze of Kingman; three sisters, Mrs. Goldie Bayless of Wallace, Mrs. Belva Harper and Mrs. Flossie Shafer, both of Hillsboro; six grandchildten, and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, a brother and a sister. Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Grover DeNeal in charge. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery at Wallace. Friends may call at the funeral home. - jlr

WALLACE - Mrs. Corda Bowman McCollum, age 83, of Wallace, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville.  Death resulted from flash fire Oct. 24 at her home.
McCollum was born June 14, 1886,  in Jackson Township, Fountain County, the daughter of Henry and Amanda Harper Bowman.  She was married to Atlas McCollum, who died in 1941.  She was a life resident of Wallace and a member of the Yeddo Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Mycroft of Portland Arch, and Mrs. Amanda Glaze of Kingman; one son, Leslie of Wallace; three sisters, Mrs. Goldie Bayless of Wallace and Mrs. Belva Harper and Mrs. Flossie Shafer of Hillsboro; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro.  The Rev. Grover DeNeal officiated and burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery at Wallace.  - jz
