McCOLLUM, Chester - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Chester Elton McCollum, 52, died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at his home two miles west of Crawfordsville. He was born Aug. 10, 1912, in Waynetown to John and Emma Puckett McCollum. He was married to Norma Mae Stephens, May 15, 1937. Mr. McCollum was a member of the Elks Lodge and had been an electrician all his life. He worked 20 years for the Symmes & Williams Electric Co. and was employed at the Sanborn Electric Co. at the time of his death. He was graduated from New Richmond High School in 1931. He is survived by his wife; his mother of near Crawfordsville; two brothers, Kenneth and James McCollum, both of near Crawfordsville, two sisters, Mrs. Opal Harshbarger of New Richmond and Mrs. Dorothy Miller of Crown Point. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, John McCollum, and a sister, Faye. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home here with Rev. Milo Riggs, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday.

Funeral services for Chester E. McCollum were held Saturday afternoon at Hunt and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Milo M. Riggs officiating. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with floral tributes were John McCollum, James McCollum, Charles K. McCollum, Donald Neese, Ralph Simms and Norman Wilcox. Services of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks were also conducted. Selections were played on the organ by Mrs. O. C. Edwards. Mr. McCollum, local electrician, died suddenly last Wednesday afternoon at his home.
