Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Funeral services for Merle (Newt) McClure, age 63, native of Warren County and former resident of the Covington community, who died at 3 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at the Muscatatuck State School at Butlerville, were held at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. Mr. McClure was born April 4, 1900 in Warren County, the son of Carson and Eliza Marsh McClure. He had never married and had made his home with his bother, Harold McClure, after the death of his parents. He was a farm worker and had been a patient at the Muscatatuck State School for the past six years. He lived in his brother's home in this community, both east and south of Covington, for a number of years before the Harold McClures moved to Judson, Ind., in 1945. The deceased was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to the brother, are two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Rev. Glenn Ray, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Covington, officiated at the funeral services. Burial was in Highland Cemetery at Williamsport.  --typed by Walt W
