McCARTY, Tressa Sowers - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Kentland – Tressa M. McCarty, 98, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday May 7, 2007 in her rural Kentland residence.  She was born Sept 28, 1908, in Parke County (spent some time in Fountain where at least one sister and one brother were born) to the late Edgar and Ruey Sowers.  A 1927 graduate of AJ Kent HS, she was a bookkeeper at the Kentland Lumber Yard and Kentland Bank. She also farmed with her son.  Her marriage was to Gerald H. McCarty on Feb 25, 1928. They were divorced. Mrs. McCarty was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Newton County Homemakers Club. Surviving is a son, Delbert McCarty (wife: Patricia) of Kentland.

Visitation: 4-8 p.m. today at McMullan-Stitz Funeral Home, Kentland with service there at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007 with Marjorie Egger officiating.  Interment Buswell Cemetery.  Also surviving are 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.
